June 22nd Race Results

Race #3 of the TBRA Series took to the track Motordrome Speedway under great weather on June 22nd. Glenn Gault Jr. of Hubbard, Ohio had his break tonight. After trouble in race #1 and race #2, Gault came tonight with something to prove and he did just that. With the fastest qualifying time of the night, Gault had his car dialed in.

Precise Tire is Motordrome Speedway’s Hoosier tire supplier here in 2012 and awarded Gault 2 FREE Hoosier tires for the fastest qualifying time of the night! Congratulations Glenn and a big thanks to the support from Precise Tire, Hoosier, and Motordrome Speedway on this award!

Gault drew the pill for an invert of 12 leaving him half the field to fight back to the front. 23 cars showed up but at qualifying the field was 21 as Scott Wylie in the #47 got into the wall during practice sessions and Joe Maruca in the #90 had problems with his power steering rack.

Starting from 12th position it was Glenn Gault Jr. who fought his way to the lead on lap 91 and took the checkered flag and victory lane at the Penn West Toyota Lift TBRA Series 100 lap feature; race #3 in the TNT Custom Racing TBRA Series of Champions Points Chase!

After rain at both the May 26th (race #2) and June 2nd (make-up) the clear weather Friday night had the drivers ready to put on a show. The 100 lap feature ran extremely competitive racing to the checkered flag with only 1 caution. The 12 car invert put Garry Wiltrout on the pole for the double file start. Fullone in the #48 started outside first row but lost second position to Matt Sever in the #83 on the start as he followed Wiltrout up the inside. Jeff Brown out of New York chased the leader from a 4th position start, moving into 2nd just past the 1/4 mark of the race.

Also putting the heat on the leaders of the field were Glenn Gault Jr. and Steve Black who qualified 1st and 2nd fastest and moved up from the invert starting positions of 12th and 11th to 6th and 5th respectively by lap 26. Neil brown who has tallied up 5 wins his home track of Motordrome Speedway so far this year had just broken into the top 3.

When the halfway point came Garry Wiltrout was still holding onto the lead even with a cast on a broken wrist. At lap 51, Wiltrout let out of the throttle letting the lead slip to Jeff Brown with Neil Brown and Gleen Gault, Jr. following into the 2nd and 3rd positions. Gault continued his forward push taking 2nd position for what turned into a 30 lap side by side battle for 1st between Gault and Jeff Brown. The show was on for the fans in this intense race for victory lane. Gault finally had the car he was missing in Race #1 and #2 of the TBRA Series and wasn’t going to let this one get away from him.

Gault slipped by Brown and began pulling away on lap 91 and held the lead for the last 9 laps taking the checkered flag on lap 100 in his Snow King/Lennox Heating and Cooling #32! Jeff Brown, right on his tail, took 2nd and Neil Brown rounded out the Top 3. George Skora III brought in 4th place with Colt James (in for the weekend’s TBRA Series “Double-Header”) finished out the Top 5!

An amazing race for the TBRA Series with competitive racing to the last minute, great car and driver turnout, 100 laps with only 1 caution and all leading into the second race of the weekend at CNB Bank Raceway Park the following night on Saturday, June 23rd.
