June 2nd Race Results (May 26th Make Up)
Race #2 of the 2012 TBRA Series, was rained out on its originally scheduled May 26th date. The madke up on Saturday, June 2nd at Lake Erie Speedway took the green flag under partly cloudy skies. The race was scheduled as a full TBRA Series make up meaning a 100 lap late model feature.
The race went under green flag with over 5,500 fans packing the stands. Early lead was Bob Weber, Dave Heitzhaus, and Scott Wylie.
Hometown driver, George Skora III entered the top 3 at lap 40 and kept the push going taking the 2nd Place position around the halfway point.
The race went to double file restarts at the halfway point on lap 51 following 2 quick cautions and leading to some shuffling of positions. On lap 52 George Skora III took the lead and once out front he continued to spread out his lead.
Caution came out on lap 86 with rain falling. Drivers stayed out under caution as it blew through and quickly dried the track with another few laps under caution. Just as the race was about to go green for a restart of the last 14 laps, heavy rains rolled in with no signs of letting up.
The track officials called the race complete at lap 86 with George Skora III taking the win, Jeff Brown in 2nd Place, and Dave Heitzhaus wrapped up 3rd Place!
A field of 20 cars started the race, all of which picked up points toward the 2012 TBRA Series of Champions Points Chase and will hopefully be back in contention for Race #3 and #4 as we head to Motordrome Speedway on June 22nd and then to CNB Bank Raceway Park on June 23rd for a back to back feature weekend!
